Biography
Hiroyuki Kato, MEng, is a research specialist with extensive experience in pancreatic islet biology, oxygen-controlled cell culture systems, and translational transplantation research. His work focuses on advanced islet culture technologies, including dynamic perfusion systems, 3D spheroid fabrication, hypoxia-related assays, and functional assessment of pancreatic islets for diabetes research.
Prior to joining the Komatsu Lab, he conducted molecular biology and epigenetics research at City of Hope and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company, where he developed expertise in CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, next-generation sequencing, and cancer biology. Hiroyuki has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications and international presentations related to islet transplantation, oxygen engineering, and biomaterial-based culture platforms.
